£40,000 in New Tenor Bills of Credit issued pursuant to the Feb. 14, 1743/44 Act for 20 year amortizing mortgage loans bearing 4% interest. Known as the Eighth Bank. Same silver equivalent as Dec. 2, 1740 issue. Elaborately engraved face. The English Arms on this issue are included on Rhode Island bills for the first time. Backs printed from type and ornaments showing one New Tenor for four Old Tenor as equivalents. Signers were James Arnold, Jahleel Brenton, George Brown, John Dexter, Benjamin Nichols, Thomas Richardson, Edward Scott, Daniel Updike, and Gideon Wanton.
