£50,000 ($166,667) in Treasury Notes dated May 10, 1775 and due on May 10, 1777 without interest and similar to the prior issue. Signers were Jabez Hamlin, Benjamin Payne, William Pitkin, Jesse Root, Thomas Seymour, Elisha Williams, and George Wyllys. Slash or hole cancellation customarily occurred on redemption. Whether a 5s or 6s denomination was prepared is not known. Counterfeits of 40s bills were made by Henry Dawkins on the H.M.S. Phoenix in New York Harbor during the British occupation of New York City. Dawkins was later employed to cut borders for Continental Congress issues.
