Mid-American Rare Coin Galleries, Inc. was founded in 1984 by Jeff Garrett in Lexington, Kentucky. For nearly a decade, he concurrently operated Mid-American Rare Coin Auctions, which was considered one of the finest auction houses in the nation; the company sold many rare U.S. coin collections until it was sold to Heritage Auctions in the early 1990s.
